The partners of the EC funded project “The Africa We Want Project” (also called Mobilizing Civil Society Support for Implementation of the African Governance Architecture) met for 5 days of PRC Engagement and for the official Launch of the Continental Citizen Report (the launch was during the meeting agreed to be postponed to the beginning of 2020) in October 2019 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting took place from Monday 28th to November 1st, 2019 at Tulip Inn Olympia Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
EACSOF (K) held a National Dialogue Committee (NDC) meeting on 1st October, 2019 as part of the preparations to engage in regional dialogue processes under the consultative dialogue framework. The Senior Assistant Director for Re-gional Integration at the Ministry of EAC, Mr. Samuel Mwangi Kahenu, emphasized the role envisioned for NDC in identifying critical issues affecting Kenyans as they position themselves to influence and benefit from the EAC integration processes.
TMEA implements its programmes through a two-tier governance and management structure at the regional and national level. At the corporate/strategic level, the Board has the key role to oversee operational delivery and management of TMEA’s objectives. The RPSC has responsibility over specific private sector programmes in the region and undertake a regular review of each Private Sector Programme.
The EACSOF EXCOM meeting took place from 30th to 31st January in EACSOF Offices in Arusha Tanzania with the aim of enabling the new EACSOF EXCOM members to understand the status of the organization and how best the new GC members can support the Secretariat and the Country Chapters and to appreciate EACSOF’s status and what the Secretariat expects from the new GC and lastly to enable EXCOM to prepare well for the first full GC meeting in the end of 1st quarter of 2020.
The East African Civil Society Organisations Forum (EACSOF) in joint collaboration with Oxfam has organised Horn, East and Central Africa Region Annual Civil Society (CS) Symposium on the EAC 20 Years Celebration and High Level Dialogue on influencing in difficult context – navigating the Shrinking Civic Space in HECA Region followed by EACSOF Governing Council and Annual General Meeting which will take from 27th to 30th November 2019 at the Corridor Springs Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania.
EACSOF in collaboration with the Action Aid Denmark organized a two-daystrategic planning meeting in Nairobi to train and advise the existing CSO platforms on how to improve their ability to strategically bring together stakeholders, so that they can apply the capacity provided to promoting implementation of the AGA and especially the ACDEG. The meeting largely dwelt on issues on issues related to governance and democracy within the EAC; the support needed to the existing platforms; the role of the EAC civil society in influencing their Governments on matters of governance…
